Teachers and Parents,
Have you ever wanted to have an author come to your school to present how an idea gets turned into a book? Have you ever wanted someone to help make your students better at both personal and expository writing? Why not get both things in one program? Or maybe you want your students to become better at inferencing. Introducing school counselor and author, Bryan Smith. Bryan has been in elementary education for the past 23 years. In his presentation you will hear about:
* the process of turning an idea into a book
* when to add more detail in writing
* when to take out detail in writing
* adding more voice in your writing
Please contact Bryan for rates of the different programs:
Bryan can also create a custom presentation on other topics from his books your school is interested in.
Bryan is excited to share his love for writing with your students. Please read what a teachers had to say about his presentation.
"Mr. Smith's presentation was exactly what our 4th graders needed! Not only did his book have a wonderful message, but he showed the students how to revise like an author. It was the best piece of authentic work I've seen. It was VERY worth our time!" - Caroline Garcia, GT Coordinator, Lovejoy ISD.
"The perfect author visit! Those are the best words to describe Bryan Smith’s visit to our school. Bryan not only entertained our 4thgrade writers, but pushed them to deepen their craft. It was obvious that Bryan has experience working with students, as his engaging presentation about the writing process drew in even the most reluctant writers. Our students left his presentation with a story bubbling inside them just waiting to be written." - Megan Tumulty, Elliott Elementary Librarian, Frisco ISD
"Bryan gave a powerful, relevant presentation to our 4th graders. As I looked around the room I saw that every single student was totally engaged. Most importantly, his presentation has had a lasting effect on our students’ writing. While conferencing with students they are referring back to what Bryan shared with them as they work to make their own writing better. I am delighted that Bryan shared his experience and expertise with our students! We will certainly have him come back next year." Lou Dunkle, 4th grade team leader, Haun Elementary, Plano ISD
